business club

theILC was founded in 2003 by Karan Goel (AB '05, founder of PrepMe) at the University of Chicago. Karan originally founded the club to be a center for business.

Beginning as a think tank organization for new entrepreneurial ideas, theILC at UChicago has quickly expanded to become one of the largest official business-interest recognized student organizations on campus.

theILC now strives to create a platform on which like-minded students can come together and foster each other's passions for all aspects business. We currently have over 60 active members who attend weekly meetings.

theILC is the place to Innovate. Lead. Connect.

philosophy

Members of the club safeguard the chill environment it creates amongst peers. we believe it fosters mutual respect of opinions regardless of race, background and experience.

theILC is a sandbox in which we play in. We sharpen our tools while we play, we share the skills we learn and we build a strong network of people. Above all, we believe in the power of interpersonal connectivity.

Sandbox: each division is a different sandbox. Some discuss trading strategies, others re-initiate marketing efforts. Each values a safe environment to propose, evaluate and improve on proposed ideas.

Skills: we focus on both soft and hard skills. We have never believed in success based only in competence in one.

Mentoring: teaching is another form of learning. Those who teach well truly understand, and those who share knowledge make more friends.

Network: we use our network to make each other better, to keep in touch and to stay connected to the brightest minds.
